Nazis Who Helped Jews Survive Masquerading As Devils; Nazis Who Helped Jews Survive The Holocaust During WWII. During the holocaust, many people died, due to Machine Guns or due to starvations well as abuse. This is the way individuals disliked by Nazis were treated. The Jews along with other individuals were killed just on the basis that, Hitler and other people due to their faith. This happened to be the first time; such a holocaust happened based on such a reason. Under normal cases, there were holocausts when individuals were fighting for resources like land, or just an attempt of wining war. In this case, many individuals were killed based on the reason that, they believed in different religion. Around eleven million individuals were killed, and among them 6,000,000 of them were Jews and 5,000,000 were not Jews, (Resnick 34). As a result, this research looks at Nazis who helped Jews survive the Holocaust during WWII. AS a matter of fact, many researchers have dealt with reasons that led to World War II, there effects and the survivors. In addition, more has been done concerning the causes of this war, and how it came to an end, however, very little has been done on how the Jews got survival during the war, yet they were the main victims. Study objectives The main objective of this paper is to identify how the Jews survived during this war. In order to reach at this particular objective, I will use the following research questions. I look at who were the victims of Nazis Holocaust? I look at how was life in the concentration camp? I also look at how the survivors made it did and who were the rescuers? I look at why was it that, the Jews were the most target group? I look at the reasons that motivated rescuers? I look at who is Anne Frank and what made her famous? Definition of Terms Holocaust; in this concept, holocaust has been taken to mean, Large scale destruction and killing of millions of Jews and other people by Adolf Hitlers Nazi Germany during World War II (Library.thinkquest.org par 6). Concentration camps; this were the places that most Nazis victims were being killed Rescuers; are those who, at great personal risk, actively helped members of persecuted groups, primarily Jews, during the Holocaust in defiance of Third Reich policy (Rosenberg, par 4). Ghetto; these were tiny areas that were cordoned off by the use of barbed wire. Rationale This study is very important to me as a student as it is a partial fulfillment of my academic requirements as demanded the collage. Getting a better grade in this research will boost my overall academic grade in my cause. Nevertheless, after the completion of this research project, I will be equipped with lots of historical information concerning WWII, its causes, effects, participants as well as the victims. A part from all these, I will be acquainted with some more vocabularies that were used in history during first WWII. To the society this research will help them know that, those individuals who controlled the past will still control the future. In one way or the other, it will shape the way the society view the present, hence dictating the answers they will offer for the existing wars, problems and injustices. To the society in addition, this research paper will enable them to have the ability of looking back at World War II, and reflect on how the current leaders know the kinds of mistakes they ought not to make when dealing with conflicts. Without knowing how the Jews suffered due to their faith, where will the martyrs come from, they should such like a paper to strengthen their faith. Methodology This research paper addresses the question of Nazis Who Helped Jews Survive the Holocaust during WWII. The secondary source of data collection methods will be employed to ensure that the research carried out becomes successful. Materials from the library, internet and related research reports will be read and analyzed to provide the required data and information on the subject. Sampling strategies that will be used will include random sampling and stratified sampling strategies. In dealing with the ethical issues, the paper was approved by Ethical Approval board before data collection. This research anticipates the following limitations; time limitation, financial constrains, and the unreliability of secondary sources of data. Data Analysis At the time the WW1 started by the year 1914, Hitler was very ready to give out his life for the sake of German individuals. By that time, he was in the army for four years working as a messenger, and was fighting at the front line against Britain. At the end of it all, the Germans lost the war to their Allies. This made Hitler to be very angry for very long time after the defeat of German in the year 1919. It was too much unfortunate that, after the First World War, Germany was trying to come out of the effect in a desperate manner. Apart from this, there came Germany Great Depression. This rendered many individuals jobless and starving. In this terrible economic setting, Hitler made his way to power. In these desperate moments, the Germany people just needed any way out. As a result, Hitler ended up giving the German people lots of hope. Amongst his hopes, he ended up blaming partly the Allies who were the Britons, United States of America and France, for the poor condition that German was passing through as per that time. However, those were not the only parties that were blamed, there were others too. In his believe, German was beaten unfairly because the Jews betrayed them, which he described as being the evil partners of the Britons. He thought that, wealthy merchants and international bankers, which were majorly Jews, gave away all German secretes to Germans enemies. Due to this reason, Hitler hated and went a step higher to convince others to continue hating the Jews. In most cases, the victims of Nazis target included Jews, Gypsies, homosexuals, Jehovahs Witnesses, Communists, twins, and the disabled (Auschwitz.dk par 8). Amongst the, there were those who wanted to escape and hide from the Nazis, for instance the Ann Frank along with her family. There were those who were successful in escaping, but the majority was not. The victims as shown in appendix photo 1, that were captured were sterilized , underwent forced resettlement, family and friends separation, beaten, starved and or even death. The main victims were the Jews due the fact; they were hated most by Hitler and his Nazis. These Jews were not allowed to enjoy in theaters resorts or even swimming pools. They were given identity cards with which they had to work with them. The individuals were made to wear, the Davids star badge at any place they were going. There was a time further more, when Hitler set on fire the Jewish Synagogues, which were the place that the Jews went to practice their faith. In addition, Jews homes and businesses were all brought down to book. As an effect, there were no Jewish students who were going to schools, as they were stopped. In addition, there were curfews upon which the Jews were supposed to out, on top of these; they were not supposed to come in public places. At long last, some were forced back to there home land. The last resort for Hitler and his Nazis, were to bring sent to concentration camps. The victims were pushed out of their homes; especially the Jews were forcefully moved into smaller, overpopulated quarters in a very tiny section of the city. Such areas were cordoned off by the use of barbed wires, which were given the name Ghettos. In while in such places, every one was just waiting for a call that could be described as being dreaded, for resettlement. On their side, Jehovah Witness in German were also ban to undertake meetings when Nazis came to power, those who never bought the idea, were taken to concentration camps In the concentration camp, the Jews never lived happily waiting for their peaceful deaths. In this concentration camp as indicated in photo 2 in the Appendices, the treatments were too extremely cruel and very harsh. In such camp, they were no one feeling fine, this was based on the fact that, either some one was sick, starving, dying, and even a slavery laborer. Das result, thy ended up dying in many types of ways, for instance, sickness, starvation, being shoot by machinegun, or even overworking their bodies. There were instance where, others were being told to take shower; instead they ended up being killed. There was a time when they were tricked, and they all ended up in a gas chamber, as a result, they all died, but never did Nazis and other Germans did care (Concentration Camp par 20). Though the conditions were too tough to bear, there were those few who managed to survive. Amongst the survivors, sensed danger, or left to their homes forcefully, meaning that, they will never see their friends or families again. In addition, some survived because they were always a head of Nazis, and had lots of good luck. Life from hiding places was always a struggle, as most were just always in terror of being caught, as mostly were being constant found, hence the chances for escaping were too slim. On the other hand, another reason for terror in hiding places was that, the impact of being caught in hiding was just death, nothing else. It will be too bad to end the list of victims without mentioning Anne Frank. This was a girl from Jewish side, who survived till very end of WWII. After her family received a notice notifying them to hide, she ended up getting a diary. When they were in hiding, she went with her diary to the hiding place. Everyday, she kept on writing in it how she felt about the situation, and it felt to being in being in such a position. Just before the war ended, in 1944, Nazi found their hiding places, courtesy of some Germans who also disliked Jews. At the age of 16, in 1945, she died in a concentration camp. Latter, her diary was found, and currently, has become a book of all terrifying conditions that she underwent through. This book is now called The Diary of Anne Frank. There were those who survived due to many different techniques. There these who made it on the prospect of setting their eyes on their families, and they constantly held it in their minds. On the other hand, there were those who made it as a result of getting favors from upper Jews heading prisons such seniors could at least get extra food. Others used the technique of thievery. Such individuals stole food that was lying dead from their beds. Such thievery in a way can be called ethical stealing, which made some senses. If for sure they were going to die, way waste that particular bread. There were those who had their own luck, narrowly did they escaped all perilous barriers, and ended up being rescued by the Allies. The process of rescuing the Jews was undertaken by individuals who took a step ahead to act according to their own conscious and belief systems, while staying in an immoral community. Millions survived such holocaust incidence due to daring of such rescuers. However, their statistical number was too small. Rescuers were peasants and nannies, aristocrats and clergy, bakers and doctors, social workers and storekeepers, school children and police officers, diplomats and grandmothers. They were from many countries-the Netherlands, the Ukraine, Poland, Germany, France, Hungary, Denmark, Italy, Greece, Belgium and other nations (Fcit.usf.edu par 2). Such individuals never looked at Jews a long with other victims as being enemies, but just as other human beings. To be involved in a rescue process, one had to accept the consequential responsibility that might follow. For instance, their houses were even burned down, for instance in figure 3, after being realized that, they were assisting the Jews and other targeted groups. The rescuers had various reasons for doing so, for instance, the sense of morality motivated them, while others had some relation with particular individuals belonging to the targeted groups. There were those whose engine was politics, as they were the third Reich. There were those who were being involved as workers, for instance, nurses, diplomats, social workers among others, and extended their work beyond professional duties. Many children o the other hand followed the footsteps of their parents, hence becoming rescuers. Conclusion The reason as to why Jews were the main victims in the situation is because; it was believed that they betrayed the Germans during the First World War. Most of them were taken to concentration house where life was so miserable to an extent that, no one was left to die in peace, there were lots of troubles. The survivors in the concentration camp had lots of survival techniques; most of them were brave, determined and so cunning. They never cared on what they had to do to survive, as if thy miss out, they will end up losing. On the other hand, there were some victims who survived due to the mercy of rescuers. Civic Engagement: Voting, TV, and Efficacy Abstract Well known is the fact that active participation in America has gone down. Voting, especially, has been affected. Literature and statistics on voting behavior have demonstrated these shocking results. But lack of voting is simply the beginning, several factors affect civic engagement among those are the negative perceptions of politics received through televised media. This study found that several factors of significance with respect to efficacy, amount of TV watching, politician trust, and differences in gender factors. Though Robert Putnam’s suggestion of too much television does hold true, other factors can be predictors as well. Introduction America was founded on the idea of democracy. As Piven and Cloward put it, â€Å"Americans generally take for granted that ours is the very model of democracy† (2000). There seems to be an evident breakdown in American politics, the electorate is voting less than they did in previous generations (Putnam 2000). I question whether this is the beginning of a massive breakdown in American politics or simply a flux in the activity of the people. This fraudulent crime is committed when dishonest consumers and providers submit false or misleading information to turn profit. It affects the United States by hampering the ability to provide affordable access health care and good quality of care to Americans.The Affordable Care Act prevention resources and tools are working to stop fraud before it occurs. Health News Situation A 38 year old Miami Florida resident, Sandra Jimenez, admitted to participating in a Medicare fraud scheme affecting assisted living facilities, half way houses, and home health agencies. The fraud schemes were orchestrated by the owners and operators of American Therapeutic Corporation (ATC); its management company, Medlink Professional Management Group Inc. ; and the American Sleep Institute (ASI)† (Department of Justice, 2012, para. 2). In January 2012, Jimenez pleads guilty to counts of committing conspiracy of health care fraud and frauding the United States in receiving illegal health care kickbacks. The various owners, doctors, managers, and therapists of ATC and Medlink were charged with health care kickbacks, money laundering, and fraud of millions of Medicare dollars. The Medicare fraud scheme resulted in the submission of more than $200 million in fraudulent claims to Medicare† (Department of Justice, 2012, para. 1). An example of the fraud committed by Jimen ez and co-conspirators is submitting medically unnecessary services that were billed through Medicare and then laundered. Jimenez as a marketer solicited the beneficiaries and then paid the illegal kickbacks to assisted living facility owners in exchange for the beneficiaries. It was getting dark; the hot humid winds blew from the starless sky over the heads of exhausted ranch workers in the quiet town of Weed. George, along with the rest of his team headed towards the cabin as Lennie, the friendly giant followed behind. Today had been a long day; every worker had been on the field for over twelve hours. Working overtime was the only way to make an extra few dollars which was crucial to many of the men. As they arrived to the cabin, one by one the men washed and prepared for the next day. The clock hit nine and the cabin went silent, the sounds of George snoring echoed as the others slept in peace. The limited hours of sleep ticked by and were soon over. The next morning arrived as the alarms went off, the sounds of tired men yawning whizzed from bed to bed as the men got up for a hard day of labour. Once again one by one they lined up for a wash and set of for the fields. As usual Lennie was last to wash and so once again George had to wait as George and Lennie were as one force. George stuck by Lennie throughout his life as he was the only form of family he had. Lennie’s lacks of knowledge lead to him being George’s responsibility and so George stuck by him throughout everything. However both men left the cabin and set of for the fields. The sun was blazing down, droplets of sweat poured down their faces as they arrived to the fields. Both men had arrived late for the third time this week; they got straight to work as the boss walked by inspecting how everyone was getting on’You late again georgy boy, carry on this way and u’ll be hitting the road and that goes for the big one too’ pointing his short crooked fingers to the direction of Lennie ‘Won’t happen again boss’ replied George hesitantly. The ranch workers were terrified of the boss, he was a mysterious guy, no one actually knew anything about him let alone his actual name. He would spend his whole day walking through the fields looking for someone in the wrong for him to pick on. George just kept out his way as he didn’t want no trouble just wanted to make the money and head off to buy a little farm house and live the American dream. The day finally came to an end, and on top of everything it was a Friday, looking forward to the two days off George and the boys decided to go into town. As the men headed of for the cabin Lennie followed walking half a mile behind the rest as usual singing to him self. ‘Go straight back to the cabin and go to bed, me and the boys gonna hit inta town so don’t stay awake’ instructed George to Lennie’Ok George’ replied the big fellow, repeating quietly the instruction from George. Lennie made his way back towards the cabin strolling through the muddy fields all alone denting gigantic footprints behind him. As he arrived back to the cabin all alone, he watched George and the other men making their way for a night out. Although Lennie never asked to join them he felt left out, he felt different and less important as he was the only man left behind. Feeling sympathatic towards himself he decided to go off for a walk instead of going back to an empty cabin. He started walking through the dark muddy fields, his boots covered with large bulks of mud making it hard for him to lift of the ground to take the next step, lost in his own thoughts he carried on walking until his leg finally got stuck so deep in the mud he dropped, his large figure fell to the ground with an impact leaving the ground surface all uneven. He layed motionless on the ground for a few second before deciding to get up. Finally he made an effort to get back to his feet when to his shock he realised a young women standing above him looking down at him offering her hand to pull him up. He gazed into her eyes, his head started spinning her beauty was undescribable her red lipstick shone aginst the moonlight as her long silky hair ran down her back. Shocked by her beauty Lennie just carried on looking into her eyes, she looked back into his with a confused smile flashing off her face ‘you ok there?’ the women asked politely ‘you want a hand getting up big man, didnt you see thea sign no walking through the fields at night! it’s there for a reason!’ Lennie was lost in her beauty, not listening to nothing she said he put out his hand to accept help from the women, she grabbed on to his enormous rough hand trying to pull him up using both her soft hands. She tried to pull the big man off the ground who made no effort to try get up himself, he just gazed into her eyes as if he was lost in them. She used all her strength to help him up but Lennie didnt move an inch. As she released the power, tired of pulling, Lennie gave a slight pull on her left hand. The women came flying down directly ontop of him but hitting her head against the mud. The women layed directly above him, Lennie’s heart beat increased as the women didn’t move, he gently turned her of him to his left. While moving her body of himself he realised droplets of blood on her forehead. Lennie’s heart rate increased, he started to take long deep breathes and got to his feet instantly. He stood above her to realise she had hit her head onto a rock which layed on the mud. Lennie’s panic began to increas now that he figured out the women was dead, he was now going to get into trouble once again and let George down. Feeling terrified and confused, Lennie made a run, he ran through the fields falling after every few steps as he realised a light being shone in his direction, it was his boss. ‘What you doing out here at this time big man’ shouted the boss curiously with his voice echoeing through the fields, however Lennie’s fear forced him to ignore the boss and carry on running. He ran and ran untill he finaly made it to the cabin. Lennie entered the cabin and went straight to his bunk where he sat up waiting for George. Hours went past and the men were not back, Lennie left the cabin and stood outside.The winds blew with force and a few minutes later Lennie saw George and the men walking back in the distance, George saw Lennie outside the cabin from a far distance and ran towards him. ‘What you doing up awake at this time, I told u I was going to be late’said George in a dim and tired voice and suddenly Lennie bursted into tears as he explained himself to George about what happened. After hearing the news George also began to panic ‘we have to leave Lennie now’ both men packed their bags as the other men fell into their deep sleep and left as they had no other choice. Although Lennie had meant no harm on th women Lennie’s life would be at risk, he would be blamed for murder and with no evidence to prove his innocence he would most likely be killed. The only way to avoid this was to go on the run so both men set off for the woods to get as far away from the town of weed as possible. Â

National concerns about obesity, poor health, community cohesion and Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) have resulted in physical activity and sport being recognised as an agent in combating many of these problems however there are still barrier elements which prevent many people from participating in sport and physical activity. There may be barriers of participation in sport for some people due to historical reasons being that there is no tradition of sports participation in a family or family generation and also could relate to certain sports being associated with prejudicial circumstances due to a historical or religious background. For example many people living in a predominantly protestant area in Northern Ireland would not participate in Gaelic Football due to racial- religious prejudices owing to a historical feud between catholics and protestants. Another recognised barrier is health related in that those who suffer from illness or disease may not have the capacity to participate in local accessible sport and also may not have the economics/transportation means to attend physical activity elsewhere that is recommended for their medical condition. Obesity, poor diet (lack of energy), disability, poor hygiene and lack of educational awareness in the benefits of physical activity are all associated with being barriers of participation in sport. Social barriers such as discrimination due to gender, age, sexual orientation and cultural differences are also a contributing factor to barriers of participation. According to the Centre for Youth Sport and Athlete Welfare: Social attitudes have meant that there has been a reluctance even to recognise that sports participation by those whose sexual orientation is anything other 1 Cryer J. By far the greatest barrier is the economical exclusion of people living in poverty or with socioeconomic obstacles such as unemployment, living in large family households and one parent families. In addition to this there is the dilemma of double disadvantage if these target groups are living in a deprived urban/rural area with poor infrastructure, lack of facilities and poor transport services. This results in the further exclusion of many people and in some cases the exclusion of entire communities to participate in sport and physical activities. Sadly this is a major contributing factor to why a community becomes dysfunctional and in order to understand a community we must acknowledge the basic human needs to form and keep social connections, to develop a sense of belonging, and to furth. er increase a self-identity. Japans first contact with the west was recorded in 1542 when a Portuguese ship bound for China landed on Japan instead. As a result, traders from Portugal, the Netherlands, England and Spain all began to go to Japan shortly thereafter as did several different missionaries. In the 17th century, however, Japans shogun (a military leader) determined that these foreign visitors were a military conquest and all contact with foreign countries was barred for about 200 years.In 1854, the Convention of Kanagawa opened Japan up to relations with the west, causing the shogun to resign which led to the restoration of Japans emperor as well as the adoption of new, western influenced traditions. According to the U.S. Department of State, in the late 19th century Japans leaders began to view the Korean Peninsula as a threat and from 1894 to 1895 it was involved in a war over Korea with China and from 1904 to 1905 it f ought a similar war with Russia. In 1910, Japan annexed Korea.With the beginning of World War I, Japan began to influence much of Asia which allowed it to quickly grow and expand its Pacific territories. Shortly thereafter it joined the League of Nations and in 1931, Japan invaded Manchuria. Two years later in 1933, Japan left the League of Nations and in 1937 it invaded China and became a part of the Axis powers during World War II. On December 7, 1941 Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, Hawaii which led to the United States entering WWII and the subsequent atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945. On September 2, 1945, Japan surrendered to the U.S. which ended WWII.As a result of the war, Japan lost its overseas territories, including Korea, and Manchuria went back to China. In addition, the country fell under the control of the Allies with the goal of making it a democratic self-governing nation. It thus underwent many reforms and in 1947 its constitution went into effect and in 1951 Japan and the Allies signe d the Treaty of Peace. On April 28, 1952, Japan gained full independence. Government of Japan Today Japan is a parliamentary government with a constitutional monarchy. It has an executive branch of government with a chief of state (the Emperor) and a head of government (the Prime Minister). Japans legislative branch consists of a bicameral Diet or Kokkai that is made up of the House of Councilors and the House of Representatives. Its judicial branch consists of the Supreme Court. Japan is divided into 47 prefectures for local administration. Economics and Land Use in Japan Japans economy is one of the largest and most advanced in the world. It is famous for its motor vehicles and electronics and its other industries include machine tools, steel and nonferrous metals, ships, chemicals, textiles and processed foods. Geography and Climate of Japan Japan is located in eastern Asia  between the Sea of Japan and the North Pacific Ocean. Its topography consists mainly of rugged mountains and it is a highly geologically active region. Large earthquakes are not uncommon Japan as it is located near the Japan Trench where the Pacific and North American Plates meet. In addition, the country has 108 active volcanoes.The climate of Japan varies upon location - it is tropical in the south and cool temperate in the north. For example its capital and largest city Tokyo is located in the north and its average August high temperature is 87ËšF (31ËšC) and its average January low is 36ËšF (2ËšC). Teddy Roosevelt, Jimmy Carter, and Thomas Jefferson are prime candidates on many peoples lists. But how about Richard Nixon? Chances are, he wasnt your first pick. Despite the fact that Nixon continues to rank as one of the countrys least favorite leaders, the Watergate scandal wasnt his only claim to fame, and it certainly didnt represent the most profound impact of his presidency. Richard Milhous Nixon, who served as the 37th President of the United States from 1969 to 1974, was responsible for the establishment of some of the nations most important environmental legislature. President Nixon tried to gain some political capitalhard to come by during the Vietnam War and a recessionby announcing an Environmental Quality Council and a Citizens Advisory Committee on Environmental Quality, reported the Huffington Post. But people didnt buy it. They said it was just for show. So, Nixon signed legislation called the National Environmental Protection Act, which gave birth to the EPA as we know it nowright before what most people consider the first Earth Day, which was April 22, 1970. This action, in itself, has had had far-reaching effects on environmental policy and endangered species conservation, but Nixon didnt stop there. Between 1970 and 1974, he took several more significant strides toward protecting our countrys natural resources. Lets take a look at five more monumental acts passed by President Nixon that have helped maintain the environmental quality of our nations resources and also influenced numerous other countries around the globe to follow suit. Clean Air Act of 1972 Nixon utilized an executive order to create the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), an independent government organization, in late 1970. Shortly after its establishment, the EPA passed its first piece of legislation, the Clean Air Act, in 1972. The Clean Air Act was, and remains today, the most significant air pollution control bill in American history. It required the EPA to create and enforce regulations to protect people from airborne pollution known to be hazardous to our health such as sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, particulate matter, carbon monoxide, ozone, and lead. Marine Mammal Protection Act of 1972 This act was also the first of its kind, designed to protect marine mammals like whales, dolphins, seals, sea lions, elephant seals, walruses, manatees, sea otters, and even polar bears from human-induced threats such as excessive hunting. It simultaneously established a system to allow native hunters to harvest whales and other marine mammals sustainably. The act created guidelines regulating the public display of captured marine mammals in aquarium facilities and regulated the import and export of marine mammals. Marine Protection, Research, and Sanctuaries Act of 1972 Also known as the Ocean Dumping Act, this legislature regulates the deposit of any substance into the ocean that has the potential to harm human health or the marine environment. Endangered Species Act of 1973 The Endangered Species Act has been instrumental in protecting rare and declining species from extinction as a result of human activity. Congress granted numerous government agencies broad powers to protect species (particularly by preserving critical habitat). The act also entailed the establishment of the official endangered species list and has been referred to as the Magna Carta of the environmental movement. Safe Drinking Water Act of 1974 The Safe Drinking Water Act was a critical turning point in the nations struggle to protect the imperiled quality of fresh water in lakes, reservoirs, streams, rivers, wetlands and other inland bodies of water as well as springs and wells that are used as rural water sources. Not only has it proved vital in maintaining a safe water supply for public health, but it has also helped keep natural waterways intact and clean enough to continue to support aquatic biodiversity, from invertebrates and mollusks to fish, birds, and mammals.
